CRITICAL METALS IN UTAH

Utah is a top U.S. mining state with a $10.4 billion extractive industry (2022), anchored by massive copper production at Bingham Canyon and unique, nation-leading output of beryllium, magnesium, and potash. High potential exists for critical minerals—including lithium, uranium, vanadium, and rare earths—essential for energy transition, with major recent discoveries like the Silicon Ridge project.   Utah is a major hub for critical minerals, ranking as the only U.S. producer of beryllium and magnesium metal, and one of only two for lithium.  ICM has mapped some areas of interest and believes there is the potential for Tier 1 mining projects.
